Suzette Jones - June 2025 ADVOCATE OF THE MONTH

Jessica Valencia

CASA of Wise and Jack Counties is proud to honor Suzette Jones as our June Advocate of the Month. A dedicated volunteer for five years, Suzette brings warmth, faith, and fierce advocacy to every case she serves.

A longtime Decatur resident and full-time teacher, Suzette was inspired to become a CASA after adopting her daughters and seeing firsthand the vital role advocates play. Despite a busy schedule, she answered the call—proving that even limited time can make a lasting impact.

For Suzette, the most rewarding part of being a CASA is seeing children thrive after surviving hardship. One of her most memorable moments came when two children she fought to protect were adopted into a loving home. “Knowing they were safe made every challenge worth it,” she shared.

We are grateful for Suzette’s heart, strength, and unwavering commitment to speaking up for children in need.

What caused you to get involved with CASA?
My husband and I adopted our oldest daughter 25 years ago and our CASA was a true blessing during that tough time. Since most of my children are now grown I felt called to serve as a CASA, but my time was limited since I teach full time. I quickly learned that it was possible even with a limited schedule for me to volunteer and help children in need of someone to be part of their team.

What has been the most rewarding part of being a CASA?
The most rewarding part of CASA has been seeing a child come out of a horrible situation and witness that precious child thrive in a loving and safe home. Knowing that my voice matters in court for that child has made all of the difference.

What’s your favorite way to connect with your CASA kids?
I love playing games with my CASA kids or going to the park with them where I get to watch them laugh and have fun.

Please share a special moment with us about your advocacy work with your CASA kids.
I would have to say that the moment that will always hold a special place in my heart came after a very difficult CASA case where "my babies" had suffered extreme abuse and neglect. I grew to love these little ones and fought so hard to keep them in a safe place. Being part of their adoption into the most loving family, knowing they would always be loved and safe made every moment of stress worth it in the end. I truly believe that it is God's call on my life to love and help "protect the least of these" Matthew 25:40.
